What is the “B-Team” Hockey League?
B-Team hockey is a league dedicated to developing and exposing younger hockey players to the more competitive high school hockey league (Varsity).
B-Team hockey is full contact hockey and can get quite physical. However, coaches and officials do their best to match players of equal abilities on the ice during games.
The B-Team hockey league limits the playing time and eligibility for players with advanced skills so less skilled players can develop their own skills

Who can play “B-Team” hockey?
For the 2018-2019 season, any player who has a birth year of 2003, 2004 and 2005, AND grades 7th through 10th and can satisfy the eligibility requirements as defined by Mid-States Developmental League Rules at http://www.midstateshockeydev.org/ - > Information/Forms -> Information can play for the DHC B-Team.
Players must also adhere to the Duchesne High School rules and regulations as defined by the Duchesne High School Student Handbook: http://www.duchesne-hs.org/handbook.html.
Do all players get ice time on B-Team?
Yes, this is a developmental league and all players will get regular ice time during practice and games. During tournaments, a players ice time may be slightly reduced but never eliminated.
Can non-Duchesne students play for the DHC?
Absolutely! Players from any school can join the DHC at the B-Level as long as their current school does not offer a B-Team program. If the players school does offer a B-Team program but chooses not to accept the player, then that player is free to join any B-Team team they desire.

When does Duchesne Hockey Club begin practice?
Practice begins around September 1st. Players are expected to come to the first practice in hockey shape.
How long are typical practices?
Players are expected at the rink about 30 minutes before practice begins. On ice practice lasts 60 minutes. Players typically leave the rink about 20 minutes after practice ends.
Do Varsity and B-Team always practice together?
Typically both Varsity and B-Team practice on the same sheet of ice. Throughout the season, a limited number of practices may be limited to varsity only.
When and where does Duchesne Varsity and B-Team practice? *
Traditionally the club practices on Sunday and Thursday at Lindenwood Ice Rink in Wentzville.

Where are Varsity games typically played?
Varsity games are typically played at the following rinks:
Rec-Plex, Lindenwood, Queeny, Affton, South County and Webster Ice facilities.

B-Team games are typically played at the following rinks:
Rec-Plex, Lindenwood, Queeny, Affton, and Kirkwood Ice facilities.
Can girls play Varsity/B-Team hockey?
Absolutely as long as they satisfy the criteria outlined by Mid-States Hockey.
How long is the typical B-Team season?
Practice typically starts September 1st. First game is around November 1st. Last game is around February 15th.
How many games does the B-Team typically play in a season?
B-Team typically plays about 14 games in a season
Does B-Team have an end of season playoff?
Not through Mid-States. However, the DHC will try to find an End Of Season local tournament to participate in.
Can a player play on multiple teams during the season?

What is pointing out?
Pointing out is a method of keeping more talented players from dominating the developmental teams. Once a player scores a maximum number of points (goals & assists) in the B-Team career, they are no longer eligible to play B-Team.

What players are ineligible for B-Team?
Players who are Juniors, Seniors, have pointed out, play at the Central States or AAA level are not eligible to play B-Team hockey

Can B-Team Players play Varsity hockey?
If a player is rostered on a Varsity team then they are eligible to play at the B-Team level if the meet all of the criteria of the Mid-States Developmental League Rules. A B-Team player is not allowed to play at the varsity level unless they satisfy the eligibility requirements stated by Mid-States Hockey.
What is the Challenge Cup, Wickenheiser Cup, Founders Cup?
The Challenge Cup is an end of season tournament for varsity teams defined as “large school” or highly competitive during the regular season
The Wickenheiser Cup is an end of season tournament for varsity teams defined as competitive during the regular season
The Founders Cup is an end of season tournament for varsity teams who did not qualify for the Challenge or Wichenheiser Cup tournaments
What equipment will be provided to a player?
Players will be provided with home and away Club Jerseys for the season. Players are responsible for purchasing uniform socks through the club. Players are responsible for providing all of their own protection equipment, sticks, skates, tape, bags, and mouth guards. Players typically wear Black helmets, Black pants, Navy/Black gloves. Although there are no official colors. There is no official rule that requires equipment to of specific color.
Will there be Club fundraisers to help offset costs?
The DHC tries to keep membership cost as low as possible, but unfortunately, hockey can be a little expensive. To help offset the player cost, the DHC utilizes several fund raising events to help keep the costs minimal.
Players and their parents are expected to participate in these fund raiser events. It is the boards hope that the families just do not end up bearing the costs of the fundraiser event but get the community to join in the activity and help offset the costs.
Some typical fundraising events held in the past include: Mouse Races, Trivia Nights, Garage Sales, Restaurant Sponsorship nights, Car Washes, Lottery Ticket Raffles, etc.
The DHC is also trying to recruit corporate and community sponsorship. If you know of any businesses that would like to affiliate themselves with DHC please let us know.
What are Varsity, Swing, and B-Team only players?
Varsity only players are limited to playing in Varsity level games only.
Swing Players are players who play both Varsity and B-Team games during the season. Swing Players must meet all of the qualifications for B-Team eligibility as stated in the http://www.midstateshockeydev.org/ - > Information/Forms -> Information. Look for the “2015-2016 Developmental League Rules” document.
B-Team Only players are limited to playing B-Team games.
How can parents get involved with the club?
Parents are essential to making the DHC function. Without the parents there would not be a DHC.
Parents are encouraged to help the DHC board in any way they can. It could be performing very simple task or assisting board members with their official duties. Most duties and tasks associated with operating the DHC are relatively simple but if they are not spread out amongst the hockey family they can become overwhelming.
Parents are encouraged to help with the following: organizing team functions, fundraisers, communications, pictures, rides, publicity, RECRUITING, Good-Sportsmanship, enforcing conduct, and many other items. Without Parents help, the club will not succeed.

What is the affiliation between Duchesne High School and the Duchesne Hockey Club?
The Duchesne Hockey Club is not affiliated with Duchesne High School in any manner. The DHC was granted permission to represent Duchesne High School as long as there are 12 Duchesne High School students on the varsity roster for any given season.
Duchesne High School does not provide any financial assistance to the DHC.
All students, whether they are Duchesne students or out of district players, must abide by the Duchesne High School rules and regulations. These rules and regulations are defined in the Duchesne High School Student Handbook which can be found at http://www.duchesne-hs.org/handbook.html

All players must register each season by printing and completing the required forms. At this time, we are not accepting on-line registration.
Players playing Varsity Only hockey must complete the required Varsity Hockey forms. Swing Players (playing on both Varsity and B-Team Teams) must complete BOTH Varsity and B-Team registration paperwork. B-Team players must complete the required B-Team forms.
All forms are to be turned into the DHC Registrar by the due date.

How are team communications handled?
DHC communications are handled through various media. The DHC team website and TeamSnap application shall be the primary methods for communication.
What are the Duchesne Hockey Club costs?
DHC costs are based up on the team the player participates on. Varsity Only players will pay one fee. Swing Players, players on both the Varsity and B-Team, pay a slight premium to participate on both teams. B-Team players pay a lower fee. Goalie fees are also lower than out skaters.
